“The 40th anniversary 7” picture disc of David Bowie’s Sorrow will be available as a double A-side single, backed with a rare live version of the song recorded at the Pacific National Coliseum, Vancouver, from David’s hugely successful Serious Moonlight Tour on 12th September 1983.”
davidbowie.com "gushing news"
And so the shambles that is the 2013 release of Bowie product continues.
The inclusion of a 30 year old widely available live rendition of Sorrow from the Serious Moonlight tour adds exactly what to this 40th Anniversary presentation?

They really start to make a mess out of these rereleases. The discs untill now had a B-side of liverecordings from the same period as the original. (except for John I'm only dancing that had the Sax version) And now we have on this 40th anniversary release a 30th anniversary live version. Why not put the 1980 Floor Show performance on te B-side or a polished Diamond DogsTour version?
See ya next year february with Rebel Rebel......... (put my money on the US single version on the b-side) Let's make the best of it.

Exactly L.
"A 40th Anniversary Edition", so why include a recording/totally different image from a period ten years later??
And your suggestion of the 40th Anniversary release of Rebel Rebel next year including the "US single Version" (if it happens?) would be the most excellent release in this series EVER !
Like said, lazy "Who? E.M.I" should have used either the original 'B side' 'Port Of Amsterdam' or the demo from the same period or some other outtake.
NOT the 1984 Floorshow recording as that is what it is ....POOR.
If come February 2014 we do actually receive a 40th Anniversary edition picture disc of Rebel Rebel which has the original release on the "A Side" and the US version on the "B Side" then that would be the most excellent Bowie release ever.
Even better would be a '40th Anniversary Limited Edition Picture Disc EP' with these trax, which are more in keeping to the way that they should be released.
REBEL REBEL (40th Anniversary Limited Edition Picture Disc)
Side 1. Rebel Rebel (Original UK 7" vinyl release)
Side 2. Rebel Rebel (U.S. initial "phased mix" release)

Hmmm?
The new David Bowie novelty single !
Sorry .....the Sorrow 40th Anniversary Edition.Hmmm? 2
Have grown used to certain Bowie fans when hearing of new forthcoming 'Bowie product' talking about the 'investment factor' before it's even in the shops and now even davidbowie.com are doing it."This series of discs is proving to be very popular with fans and *collectors* alike, with reports of the first one, Starman, fetching prices in the hundreds already."* collectors * = Unscrupulous eBay sellers only buying for immediate resale on eBay!As The Smiths would say ...."That Joke Isn't Funny Any More" Or as Morrissey would say " Reissue .. Repackage .. Repackage "

As Bowie only recorded Sorrow once "The Kids Had Killed The Man", ending the Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane tour of 1973, a live soundboard recording from The Diamond Dogs tour from the following year would've been more 'in keeping' with this "Anniversary" issue as it was the first time he sang it live.
And he had the same coloured hair.
Just my thoughts ....
